September 21, 1980 - Phillies 7, Chicago 3

The Phils sent Dick Ruthven to the mound for the rubber match against the Chicago Cubs. His effort was not his strongest of the season: 5-2/3 innings, thee earned runs. However, it was good enough to win as the Phillies launched a fifteen-hit attack against the feeble Chicago pitching staff, including home runs from Greg Luzinski (18) and Mike Schmidt (41). Luzinski, Garry Maddox and Manny Trillo had two hits apiece, while catcher Bob Boone went 3-for-5. Seven different Phils (Rose, McBride, Schmidt, Luzinski, Maddox, Trillo and Ruthven) each had an RBI. Ron Reed relieved Ruthven, pitching 3-1/3 innings of hitless baseball for his ninth save of the season.
