The Phillies signed veteran relief pitcher Lerrin LaGrow to a one-year contract. LaGrow pitched for the White Sox and Dodgers between various ailments last season before trying the free agent market, where he was drafted only by the Red Sox. He "had a pretty good September," said GM Paul Owens.... Rookie center Bill Cartwright of the New York Knicks has replaced injured Boston Celtics center Dave Cowens on the Eastern team for Sunday's NBA All-Star game at Landover, Md....
