After dropping two of three to the Reds, the Phils stumbled into Atlanta, and promptly lost the first game of the series against the Braves. Randy Lerch was once again the victim of bad defense, this time by perennial gold glover Mike Schmidt, who committed two errors on the night. The Phils' bats could not overcome the mistakes on this night, and the Phils once more dropped below .500.
