May 5, 1980
The Phils, after taking two of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers, knocked Rick Matula out of the box early and cruised to a 7-1 win against the Atlanta Braves. Steve Carlton was the beneficiary of the resurgent offense, though he didn't need it. He pitched a three-hitter, holding the Braves to one run in earning his fifth win of the season.
