The Phillies were going for the sweep, and had their ace pitching, so chances were looking good.  It was not to be, however, as even the best have bad days, and this one was Steve Carlton's.  Lefty went seven innings, but was not effective as the Expos managed to steal the final game of the series behind their ace Steve Rogers to hold onto first place.
