July 25, 1980

Following their much-needed day off, the Phils played  a pair at home against the Atlanta Braves.  The first game was a close one, a 12-inning affair won when Mike Schmidt walked to force home Randy Lerch, pinch-running for Bob Boone, with the winning run.  That capped a four-hit, two homer day for Schmidt.  Dick Ruthven pitched a complete game (yes, a 12-inning complete game) to earn his ninth victory.  The Phils could not keep the magic going, however, as they were shutout by Tommy Boggs, wasting a good effort by Dan Larson, who gave up two runs in eight innings.
