The Phillies took a pair from the Cardinals on this third of July.  Mike Schmidt was out with an injury, and the Phils' offense suffered because of it in the first game.  It took a shoddy Cardinals defense and stellar pitching from Dick Ruthven to eke out a win over Bob Forsch.  The second game had no such offensive problems as the Phils shellacked Jim Otten, knocking him out in the second inning after a four-run barrage.
