June 28, 1980 - Game 2 - New York 5, Phillies 4
The Comeback Kids were not here yet. The Phils actually coughed up what appeared to be a 4-2 victory in the last two innings to fall to the Mets 5-4, allowing New York to complete a sweep of the June 28 double-header. Dan Larson pitched creditably for 6-1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs. However, the relief tandem of Lerrin LaGrow, Ron Reed and Kevin Saucier squandered the lead in the later innings, with Saucier taking his second loss with an unearned run in the ninth inning (caused by his own error). Garry Maddox helped pick up some of the offensive slack from the injured Mike Schmidt with a double and a triple, scoring one and knocking in two of the Phils' four runs in the game.
