PHILADELPHIA - Larry Bowa singled with the bases loaded and none out in the ninth inning to drive in the winning run and give the Philadelphia Phillies a 7-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in a fight-marred contest triggered by a beanball incident.

Mike Schmidt led off the ninth with a double and Greg Luzinski followed with single (sic), sending Schmidt to third.Lonnie Smith then pinch-ran for Luzinski and Bob Boone slapped a double to score Schmidt. Garry Maddox was intentionally walked, setting up Bowa's game-winner off loser Kent Tekulve, 5-3.

Bert Blyleven was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning which triggered a 10- minute benches clearing brawl. The problem started in the first inning when Blyleven brushed back Schmidt and Luzinski with high, inside pitches.

When Schmidt was brushed back again in the third, he took a step toward Blyleven and both benches emptied but no blows were struck.
