May 9, 1980
The "Big Red Machine" was on its last legs by 1980. The team that had won three consecutive National League Pennants and two straight World Series Championships in the mid-1970s was reduced to a few aging players. Gone were Pete Rose (to the Phils), Joe Morgan (to the Astros) and Tony Perez (to the Red Sox). Against Randy Lerch, though, the Reds looked more like their old selves, handily defeating the struggling lefty and the Phillies.
