July 31, 1980
The Phils got to enjoy this off day a little more than the previous one, as they had won three out of four against West Division leading Houston. They still saw themselved in third, three games behind Pittsburgh and one and a half behind second place Montreal. While they must have felt pretty good looking ahead to the second half of their 12-game homestand, the Phils would find the beginning of August perhaps the most tumultous portion of their season.
