May 28, 1980 - Phillies 6, Pittsburgh 3
Each side had 10 hits, but the Phillies made more out of theirs as they defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates to reclaim a tenuous hold on first place in the Eastern Division. Hard-luck Randy Lerch finally claimed his first victory of the season, going 8 innings and giving up three runs on ten hits. Mike Schmidt powered the Phils to an early lead with a first inning three-run home run off of eventual loser Don Robinson of the Pirates. Pete Rose had a pair of doubles, and Garry Maddox and Bake McBride each had a two-bagger. Ron Reed earned his second save of the season, finishing the game for Lerch in the ninth inning.
