I think that all Phillies fans that were alive and coherent in 1980 can recall Dickie Noles's "moment in the spotlight" in the 1980 World Series. In game 4, performing in mop-up duty for Larry Christenson (who had been lit up by the Royals) Noles brushed back George Brett with a high, inside fastball in the fourth inning. That may have been the spark that woke the Phillies up, as they lost games 3 and 4 after winning the first two. In Noles' four-plus innings of work in the series, he gave up one run. During the 1980 season, Noles was an important reliever, registering 6 saves.
