Greg Gross was one of the major weapons used by the Phillies off the bench. He was a key pinch hitter, especially during the LCS. Actually, Gross's biggest hit may have been the shortest. Gross came up in the 8th inning of the 5th and deciding game of the LCS, with the Phillies losing 5-2. With Bowa and Boone on, Gross laid down a textbook bunt down the third base line and beat it out for a hit. The Phillies scored five runs in that inning, and went on to win the game 8-7.
