Dick Ruthven giveth, and Dick Ruthven taketh away.  The Phils number two starter pitched well, going the whole game against the Astro's hall of famer Nolan Ryan, scattering eight hits and giving up just one earned run.  It was the second of two unearned runs, however, that proved his undoing.  Ruthven uncorked a wild pickoff throw in the ninth inning, allowing Jeff Leonard to score the winning run on the pitcher's error.
