June 20, 1980 - San Francisco 5, Phillies 1
The Phils' bats were cooled off by a hot pitcher. Allen Ripley, who would go 9-10 with an ERA over 4.00, would pitch a complete game against the slumbering Phillies, giving up a solitary run over seven hits in his nine innings of work. The Phils countered with Dan Larson, who pitched well enough, giving up six hits over six innings, but could not keep the Giants off of the scoreboard. The lone Phils run came in the first, when Bob Boone knocked in Pete Rose. No Phillie batter hit more than a single off of Ripley.
