June 7, 1980 - Phillies 5, Chicago 2

Manny Trillo unsucessfully tries to break up a double play.
Manny Trillo unsucessfully tries to break up a double play.

There must have been a full moon on this evening. Randy Lerch pitched a solid game, and the Phillies' bats were alive enough to earn Lerch his second win of the season. Lerch gave up five hits and two runs over 5-2/3 innings to improve his miserable record to 2-7. Dickie Noles finished the last 2-1/3 innings to earn his fourth save (interesting point: at this point in the 1980 season, Noles had as many saves as Tug McGraw). Pete Rose and Manny Trillo had two hits apiece and Mike Schmidt three as the Phils' hitters combined for 14, but only score five runs, which was just enough tonight.
