April 11, 1980
April 11 was opening day for the Phillies in 1980. Coming a bit late in the wake of the abortive players’ strike (as it turned out, only delayed by a season), the Phils were eager to begin their quest to make up for the disappointing 1979 season. They would play the same team that would figure largely in the end of the regular season – the Montreal Expos.
