August 18, 1980
Scheduled off day for the Phils. At this point in the season, the National League East race seemed destined to be a three-horse race between the Phillies, the defending champion Pittsburgh Pirates and the Montreal Expos. After being swept against the Pirates, the Phils had won seven of eight against the Cubs and Mets, and had climbed back to within three games of the division lead. They still had a difficult road ahead, most immediately a trip to the west coast.
