August 31, 1980

Bob Walk, who had started the year 6-0, had struggled since, and that continued in the final game in San Diego.  Walk held on until the sixth, when a five-run outburst from the Padres knocked him out, and the Phillies, who went into the inninng with a 3-1 lead, never recovered.  Ron Reed didn't fare much better, giving up an additional five runs after taking over for Walk, and the Padres won in a bit of a laugher.
