August 21, 1980

The Phils made big use of their comeback skills in this game, erasing a deficit of 6-4 in the sixth and seventh innings before blowing their own lead in the ninth to enter extra innings tied at eight.  After that offensive showing, it was a pitchers' duel in the overtime, finally ended in the seventeeth inning on a Bake McBride triple, scoring Mike Schmidt from first base to give the Phils the win.  Dickie Noles and Kevin Saucier pitched nine innings of stellar relief, with Saucier earning his sixth win of the season (and pitching three innings longer than starter Bob Walk, who was knocked out in the third after giving up five runs.  Randy Lerch added to the sparking relief work, going six after coming in for Walk.
