August 27, 1980
The Phillies turned to ace Steve Carlton to prevent a sweep against the Dodgers. Carlton gave the Phillies eight innings, keep the Dodgers at bay just enough for the Phils to escape the series with one win. The Phils were able to get to Dodgers' pitching for four runs - for the third consecutive game - but this time Carlton let just three Dodgers score. It was obvious that the Dodgers were a bit scared of Mike Schmidt's bat - he was walked three of four times he came to the plate.
