August 10, 1980 - Game 1 - Pittsburgh 7, Phillies 1
This was the first game of the double-header, but the only Phillies fireworks that went off on this Sunday in August was in between the games, when Dallas Green went on a profanity-laced tirade that could be heard by reporters eavesdropping outside the locked clubhouse door. In this first game, Phils starter Randy Lerch held to his 1980 form and lost his 13th game in 16 decisions, giving up eight hits and five runs in 5-1/3 innings. Dickie Noles and Warren Brusstar could not contain the Pirates offense, and coupled with a lethargic Phils offense that could only muster a single run, the Phils bowed to Pittsburgh for the third straight game, 7-1. The lone Phils run came in the sixth inning, when Keith Moreland singled home Pete Rose.
