After finishing off a suspended game, won 8-5 by the Phils in 15 innings, Steve Carlton took over and pitched the Phils to another victory.  Carlton, who went the distance in defeating Chicago 5-2.  Mike Schmidt hit homer number 29, and Bob Boone knocked in the winning run in the eighth inning of the game.  Future Phil Mike Krukow stayed even with Carlton until that fateful eighth inning, and suffered his 12th loss of the season.
