Phillies, Cardinals washed out

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Last night's scheduled game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies was postponed because of a torrential downpour that turned even Veterans Stadium's artificial surface into a pond. 

The game will be made up as part of a twi-night doubleheader on Friday night, Sept. 12.
