Dick Ruthven put in another good performance, giving up one run over eight innings to earn his 15th win of the season. Mike Schmidt kept up his MVP season, blasting his 38th home run of the year, while Pete Rose knocked in an additional two runs. Orlando Isales made his Phillies debut as a pinch-runner for Rose.
