This game was a pitcher's duel nearly without end. Neither team scored until the ninth, when both managed a single tally. Though neither starter factored in the decision, both the Phils' Larry Christenson (9 IP, 0 ER) and San Francisco's Vida Blue (10 IP, 1 unearned run) were spectacular. After Tug McGraw blew the save in the ninth, the teams traded zeros for three more innings before Keith Moreland finally put the Phillies up to stay... with a sacrifice fly that scored Manny Trillo with the run that made a winner out of Ron Reed.
