The Phils would break through against the Cardinals' Kim Seaman, with Larry Bowa scoring on a double by Keith Moreland. Tug McGraw would fare better, sealing the game with a scoreless bottom of the tenth. Mike Schmidt homered, hiting his 42nd off Vukovich in the fourth inning to tie the score at one.
