September 15, 1980
Scheduled off-day for the Phillies before heading back to Pittsburgh for a two-game set against the Pirates. Pittsburgh had lost to the Montreal Expos on the 14th, which put the Phillies solidly in second place, a game behind the Expos and 3½ ahead of the fading Bucs. The Phils hoped to put Pittsburgh out of their misery and to avenge the four-game sweep suffered at the hands of the World Champion Pirates in August.
