Lonnie Smith is tagged out trying to steal in the 4th inning.

Another nail-biting pitcher's duel for the Phils, which is surprising when you look at the boxscore. Mets pitcher Pat Zachry left the game after just two innings (I would guess injury, as it would end up being his last start of the season). His replacement, would give up the only two runs the Phils would score in the game, on 5th inning RBI singles to Larry Bowa (following a Manny Trillo triple) and Lonnie Smith. Phils rookie Marty Bystrom pitched well once again, giving up just a single run over 6-2/3 innings pitched, and picked up his fourth win against zero defeats. Montreal could not quite come back against the Cubs and the Phils were in first place again.
