September 8, 1980

Reeling after losing three of four to Los Angeles, the Phillies came home for a brief series against the Pirates.  Bob Walk was called upon to stop the bleeding and kept the Phillies in the game, going 6-1/3 innings.  Tug McGraw followed with 2-2/3 innings of stellar relief, and the Phillies broke a 2-2 tie with a four-run outburst in the eighth powered by a three-run double by Larry Bowa.  With the win, the Phils clawed back to within a half-game of Montreal.
