September 30, 1980 - Phillies 14, Chicago 2
The Phils, after the marathon 15-inning win the night before, needed an easy one against the Cubs. And an easy one they got, as they pummelled the Cubs' starter Lynn McGlothen, and three relievers for fourteen runs on fifteen hits. The beneficiary was Marty Bystrom, who continued his perfect first month of his career by pitching seven strong innings, giving up two runs on four hits. There were many offensive stars for the Phils, of course. Lonnie Smith not only had three hits and stole a base, but he also scored three runs. Bake McBride had two hits, scores two runs and knocked in three more. Rookie Orlando Isales also knocked in two runs with his first major league triple. Keith Moreland went just 1-for-5, but that one was a two-run double in the first inning. Larry Bowa had two hits, a run and an RBI, while Manny Trillo had two hits and scored two runs. With the win the Phils kept pace with the Expos, who beat St. Louis 7-2.

From "The World Champion Phillies and the Road to Victory"
Following five consecutive one-run victories, it's a laugher for the Phillies, who bombed the Cubs, 14-2.
The victory went to 6-foot-5 rookie Marty Bystrom, his fifth in as many decisions since being recalled from Oklahoma City on the first of the month.
His perfect record for September later earned him the National League Pitcher Of The Month Award.
The Phillies made it easy for Bystrom early, scoring four times in the first inning. Mike Schmidt and Larry Bowa each drove in one run. Keith Moreland's double accounted for the other pair.
A pair of four-run innings in the sixth and seventh really put the game out of reach of Chicago.
The Cubs were held hitless by Bystrom over the first four innings. Two singles, a walk and another hit by Ivan DeJesus in the fifth put the Cubs on the scoreboard.
The victory enabled the Phillies to stay one-half game behind Montreal, which beat St. Louis for the second straight day.
