October 15, 1980 - WS Game 2 - Phillies 6, Kansas City 4
Phillies lead series 2-0.
Game 2 pitted two lefthanders against each other: 18-game winner Larry Gura of the Royals and Phils ace Steve Carlton, who had 24 in 1980. Though Carlton struggled throughout his outing with control, he managed to keep the Royals to four runs (three earned) in eight innings of work. The Royals showed some spark in taking a lead from Carlton late in the game, as Lefty battled command issues throughout the game (walking six in his start). Once more, the Phils came back from behind to take the game 6-4, scoring four runs off Royals relief ace Dan Quisenberry, and left for Kansas City with a 2-0 Series lead.
Note: There is a discrepancy about Willie Wilson's stolen base between the account between Retrosheet's game summary (says 3rd base) and the description in The Road To Victory (says 2nd base). Both sources are included as they were originally written.
