October 18, 1980 - WS Game 4 - Kansas City 5, Phillies 3

Willie Aikens paced the Royals' win with his 2nd pair of homers in the Series.
Willie Aikens paced the Royals' win with his 2nd pair of homers in the Series.

Series tied 2-2.

Game 4 was, statistically speaking, a disaster for the Phillies. Larry Christenson, who had pitched well against Houston, was torched by the Royals for four runs and only recorded one out before leaving in favor of Dickie Noles. The Phils made it closer, but the Royals would win, 5-3, to even the Series at two games apiece. For the Royals, Willie Aikens hit two home runs for the second time in the Series. The game, for Phillies fans, is best known for the Dickie Noles knockdown of George Brett. The purpose pitch, in the fourth inning, brought Jim Frey out of the dugout, yelling at Noles, the umpires and Pete Rose.
